Residential Trips

Sadly, with Covid- 19 restrictions we are unable to plan our residential trips this year.

At Elson Junior School, our children have two opportunities to take part in a residential visit.

Stubbington Study Centre

In Year 4 or 5 we visit Stubbington Study Centre.  It is a fantastic place with a big focus on outdoor learning, teamwork and independence.   There are a great many activities to choose from and some of the Elson favorites are: a beach study, visiting the badger hide after dark, shelter building and testing, Earthquake (especially swinging across the murky water pit) and Stubbington Fox.  The dormitories are extremely comfortable with lovely spacious group meeting areas in the middle, perfect for bedtime stories!  There is always a large choice of delicious food at breakfast, lunch and dinner and special dietary requirements are accommodated. In the evening, children have ‘supper time’ with a drink and a legendary Stubby biscuit!

Osmington Bay

In Year 6 (usually at the beginning of the school year) our pupils have the opportunity to attend the Year 6 residential at Osmington Bay which is an outdoor activity centre in Weymouth, Dorset.  The focus for Osmington is to increase independence and encourage teamwork along with developing skills of aspiration and compassion (two of the Elson Junior values) as they accept physical challenges and help to support their peers. The children particularly enjoy flying through the air on a giant swing and a zip wire and abseiling!  It is a truly memorable and very special week giving the children memories that will last a lifetime.
